You can also turn your Wii into a DVD player using the Wii Media Center (WiiMC). This application supports the playback of optical discs, including DVDs.
Homebrew Channel (HBC) is a custom channel for the Wii that allows you to run unofficial software on your console. The channel can be installed through the use of exploit codes found in certain games. Once installed, the Homebrew Channel appears as an application on the Wii menu.
You can install the Homebrew Channel on Nintendo Wii with the help of Letterbomb. Letterbomb is a little hack tool that enables you to access the Homebrew with just a few clicks.
The entire process required:
- PC with SD card reader and stable Internet connection
- An SD card (at least 2GB capacity)
- A wireless network to be connected to Nintendo Wii
Note: Follow the steps below at your own risk!
Step 1: Format the SD Card
Insert the SD card into your computer, then open the “My Computer”. From there, you can right-click on your “SD card drive” i.e. maybe E: drive and choose “Format”.
From the “Format” pop-up window, make sure the File system is set to FAT32, and click the “Start” button to start formatting. Other formats like NTFS, HFS, etc. will not work.
Step 2: Check Wii Software Version
As the LetterBomb will work on the Wii software version 4.3. Make sure your Wii is in correct version. To check:
- Switch On Wii and click the Wii round button at the bottom-left corner of the screen.
